Jeremy Parrish
Chairman

Jeremy joined the CAIM Board in April 2017

Jeremy joined in 2017 as Chairman of the Board of Crown Agents Bank and Crown Agents Investment Management following a near 40 year career in international banking. During his career Jeremy held numerous senior positions at Standard Chartered plc, including Global Head of Financial Institutions, Regional Head of Wholesale client relationships Europe,  CEO Japan, CEO UAE and CEO Switzerland. He has deep first-hand knowledge of many of the markets where both companies operate. He also brings extensive understanding of the principal products and services we offer. Additionally he has worked closely with Banking and Asset Management regulators in several jurisdictions, including both the UK’s Prudential Regulation Authority and Financial Conduct Authority.

Jeremy also serves as an independent NED at Julius Baer International Ltd in London and Chairs their Risk and Audit Committee. He also acts as Chairman of the Trustees of The Challenger Trust, a U.K. registered charity helping underprivileged children prepare themselves for the workplace. He also works closely with Deloitte LLC as an advisor in the Financial Advisory division.

Jennifer Johnson-Calari
Independent Non-Executive Director

Jennifer joined the CAIM Board in July 2018

Jennifer created and led the World Bank’s Reserves Advisory and Management Program (RAMP), which is one of the world’s leading providers of consulting and capacity building services to public sector asset managers. In this capacity, she worked globally with central banks, national pension funds and sovereign wealth funds in strengthening governance and building investment management capacity. She contributed to setting global standards of best practice for the management of sovereign assets working with the IMF on the Reserves Management Guidelines and the ISWF’s “Santiago Principles”. Ms. Johnson-Calari is a contributing author to several books on sovereign wealth and central bank reserves management and has spoken widely on these topics at international conferences and central bank forums.

She began her career with the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System in international bank supervision before joining the World Bank. She has earned advanced degrees from the Harvard Business School (GMP, 2004) the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) (MA, 1981) and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). She currently serves as a consultant to several official sector asset managers and think-tanks.

She has contributed to several books on the topic of portfolio and risk management and was a contributing author and editor of Sovereign Wealth Management.

She has earned advanced degrees from the Harvard Business School (GMP, 2004) the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) (MA, 1981) and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

Arnold Ekpe
Non-Executive Director

Arnold joined the CAIM Board in April 2016

Arnold Ekpe has more than 30 years of financial services experience including as the CEO of Ecobank International from 2005 to 2012 and as the managing director of United Bank of Africa from 2002 to 2004. While at Ecobank, he was responsible for setting up Ecobank Paris’s subsidiary, EBI S.A., which is a wholesale subsidiary of the Ecobank group approved by the Banque de France and focused on trade finance, correspondent banking, commodity financing, foreign exchange and cash management, with a representative office in London.

Arnold is chairman of SFRE, a Luxembourg registered and approved investment company focused on small banks serving the real economy and Chairman of Atlas Mara, a listed Africa focused banking group. He is the Honorary President of the Business Council for Africa, a UK registered institution that promotes business and investments in Africa. He also served as a board member of the Nigerian Sovereign Wealth Fund. Previously, he served as Vice Chairman of ADC (the German financial services holding group acquired by Atlas Mara) and head of Corporate and Structured Finance at Citibank London, 1991-1996. Arnold holds a First Class Honours Degree in Engineering from Manchester University and an MBA from Manchester Business School.

Simon Poole
Helios Investment Partners, Non- Executive Director

Simon joined the CAIM Board in April 2016
Simon brings to the board broad finance and administration experience across a range of businesses in numerous African countries.

Previously, Simon was a CFO with Intela Global Ltd.

Simon serves on the boards of Helios Towers Africa Limited, Vivo Energy Investments BV and Fawry Banking & Payment Technology Services Limited.

Carole Machell
Independent Non-Executive Director, Chairman of Audit Committee

Carole joined the CAIM Board in April 2017
Carole, who is a Chartered Accountant and has over twenty-five years of financial services experience, is the Chair of CAB’s Audit and Risk Committee. She has held senior executive roles at Merrill Lynch, JP Morgan and Barclays, which have given her a deep understanding of infrastructure and control remediation as well as an ability to see risk and audit issues and solutions from a front office perspective. In addition, Carol has strong operations, infrastructure, technology and digital experience, overseeing large teams and budgets. Throughout her career she has established a track record of building relationships internally and with regulators, with expertise in stabilising problem areas while building them into sustainable businesses.   Carole has extensive experience as a Non-Executive Director and Chair and member of Risk and Audit Committees. Currently Carole is also a NED for Weatherby Bank and London First.

Raj Bhatia
Independent Non-Executive Director

Raj joined the CAIM Board in December 2016
Raj joined the Board in December 2016 and is a member of the Audit and Risk Committee.

His career spans over 20 years in financial services. In his early career he spent time with J.P Morgan, Deutsche Bank, ANZ Investment Bank and ING Barings. In 2000 he joined Standard Chartered, during which time he held the positions of Global Treasurer and Group Head of Market Risk. Following this he moved to the role of Treasurer at Co-operative Bank and since 2014 has been a Partner with Parker Fitzgerald a global leader in risk management solutions for the banking and capital markets industry. He is a practitioner in all areas of financial regulation, with extensive working knowledge of the international regulatory architecture and expectations of supervisors in relation to capital and liquidity management, asset & liability management, credit, market and liquidity risk management practices.

Albert Maasland
Chief Executive Officer- Crown Agents Bank and Crown Agents Investment Management

Albert joined as CEO in February 2017, having served on the board as a Non-Executive Director
Albert served as CEO of KCG Europe Ltd, part of KCG Holdings Ltd where he was also Global Co-Head of Execution Services and Platforms. Prior to that, Albert was CEO and Head of International Business at Knight Capital Group Inc, overseeing European and Asian operations; CEO of Saxo Bank London and Chairman of Saxo Capital Markets; Global Head of Business Development, e-commerce at Standard Chartered Bank, Managing Director at Deutsche Bank and Global Head of Business Development at HSBC Market.

Albert is a non-executive director at EASDAQ NV and has held numerous other NED roles throughout his career.

Ritesh Anand
Deputy Chief Investment Officer -Crown Agents Investment Management

Ritesh Joined in June 2016
Experienced global fund manager.

Previously, Senior Investment Officer at The Wellcome Trust.

In 2009, he founded Invictus Capital, an investment management firm focused on Africa.

Richard Hallett
Chief Financial Officer - Crown Agents Bank and Crown Agents Investment Management

Richard joined in June 2016
Richard was formerly CFO of Barclays Africa and CFO of Absa Capital.

Previous roles include UK & Europe CFO, Global Business Unit Controller at RBS, MD at Morgan Stanley

Doug’s previous appointments include Director of Finance at Merrill Lynch, Deputy Managing Director at Sanwa International and Finance Director at the Bank of China Int.

Steven Marshall
Chief Commercial Officer - Crown Agents Bank

Steven joined in November 2016
Steven joined from the UN Migration Agency after roles at Barclays and more recently at Standard Chartered where he was Global Head of Public Sector.

Ann Mee
Interim Head of Operations - Crown Agents Bank and Crown Agents Investment Management

Ann joined in May 2018
Ann has many years’ experience as an Operating Executive – (both interim and executive COO roles) and has been instrumental in managing extensive change programs covering both structural and cultural transformation.

David Bee
Head of Global Markets - Crown Agents Bank

David joined in April 2018
David has over 30 years of senior banking experience in the Fixed Income, Currency and Commodity industry.

Previous roles include senior positions at Citigroup, Deutsche Bank, Standard Chartered and Lloyds Banking Group.

Marcia worked for several UK and international broker-dealers, investment banks and asset management, including such as ING Bank, Calyon Financial, Newedge, Knight Capital Group and BlueBay Asset management.
